Understanding the tender process and turning implicit knowlege into explicit

There were countless ideas for the product. But these ideas weren’t written down anywhere. We had to find a way to make them visible so that we were able to prioritise them. And we were not familiar with the tender process.

So our first step was to gain a deep understanding of the tasks within the tender process for each target group: architects and builders, craft enterprises and the CONTIRIO service team. Therefore we conducted semi-structured interviews. From the gathered information we developed a task model relating to each target group. We analyzed gain-points and pain-points and discussed how CONTIRIO could establish more value.

Defining the MVP with User Story Mapping

The task model formed the basis of our workshop, which we held with several stakeholders to define the features for the MVP. We used the steps of each task model as epics and discussed them within timeboxed sessions. This approach was the best way for the customer to visualise the requested features and to assign them to the epics.

After transferring the notes from the workshop to Miro we processed them into User Stories.

Writing the User Stories helped us to empathize more with the users and to better understand their needs. The Stories were prioritized for the MVP for each target audience within a second workshop

Wireframes

With the user stories in mind, we started working on the wireframes. The process was divided into short iterative phases. After each phase, we evaluated everything we had done with the client.

Visual Design

We created a refreshing, minimalist and clean Corporate Design that conveyed trustworthiness, progression and ease of use. To create the basic elements of the UI, we used customizable components of a template. This process was new to us. As the process has not yet been completed, we cannot give a final opinion.
